Greetings! I am happy to be serving as the TPES Library Media Specialist.  I was born and raised in Monroe County and completed my K-12 education in the Tellico Plains schools.  I have served my entire teaching career in Monroe County.  Most of my teaching career has been spent at TPES, first as a K-2 classroom teacher.  Then, for a few years I served as the Library Media Specialist at Madisonville Primary School.  I came back to TPES to serve in my current position as the Library Media Specialist when that position opened up in 2013.  I am involved in many leadership and student activities.  My husband and I have two children.  We live on a mini farm with our three dogs, one cat, two horses, five chickens, and one rabbit.  Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and animals, working in my church, reading, exercising, gardening, crafting, painting, antique shopping, riding my four wheeler and go cart with my family, and helping my husband with flip house projects.

Services:
The TPES Library Media Center is staffed by a certified Pre-K-12 Library Media Specialist who is also a certified K-8 Teacher.  The media center serves approximately 370 students in grades Pre-K-4 as well as numerous faculty and staff.  The media center's circulation system is fully automated.  The media center also fully utilizes an Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), also known as an electronic card catalog, which allows patrons to search our collection of books and materials via the Internet from any place that has an Internet connection.  Each class in grades K-4  attends a Library enrichment class for 45 minutes each week in the media center.  The media center provides books and other materials for students, faculty, and staff to checkout.  The media center staff strives to meet the informational needs of its' patrons.  We continuously work to add new items to the collection as funds become available.  The media center staff also instructs its' patrons in information skills, reinforces the school's curriculum and the classroom instruction, while also promoting literacy and instilling a love of reading and information seeking in its' patrons.  We also coordinate, offer, and assist with numerous programs, classes, and events such as: RTI (Response to Intervention) small-groups, Scholastic Book Fair,  Literacy Night, and Accelerated Reader (AR) events just to name a few.
