Greetings! I am happy to be serving as the TPES Library Media Specialist. I was born and raised in Monroe County and completed my K-12 education in the Tellico Plains schools. I have served my entire teaching career in Monroe County. Most of my teaching career has been spent at TPES, first as a K-2 classroom teacher. Then, for a few years I worked as the Library Media Specialist at Madisonville Primary School. Afterwards, I came back to TPES to work in my current position as the Library Media Specialist. I am involved in many leadership and student activities. My husband and I have two children. We live on a farm with our dogs, cats, horse, cows, goats, and chickens. Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and animals, working in my church, reading, exercising, gardening, farming, crafting, painting, doing photography, antique shopping, riding my four wheeler and go cart with my family, going to real estate auctions, and helping my husband with our real estate business.

Services
The TPES Library Media Center is staffed by a certified PreK-12 Library Media Specialist who is also a certified K-8 Teacher. The media center serves approximately 350 students in grades PreK-4 as well as numerous faculty and staff. The media center's circulation system is fully automated. The media center also fully utilizes an Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), also known as an electronic card catalog, which allows patrons to search our collection of books and materials via the Internet from any place that has an Internet connection. Each class in grades K-4 attends a Library enrichment class for one 45 minute session each week in the media center. PreK attends a Library enrichment class for 30 minutes each week in the media center. Each nine weeks on a rotating basis, one class from each grade level in grades K-4 attends a Library enrichment class and works in the library's Makerspace during that session. The media center provides books and other materials for students, faculty, and staff to checkout. The media center staff strives to meet the informational needs of its' patrons. We continuously work to add new items to the collection as funds become available. The media center staff also instructs its' patrons in information skills, reinforces the school's curriculum and the classroom instruction, while also promoting literacy and instilling a love of reading and information seeking in its' patrons. We also coordinate, offer, and assist with numerous programs, classes, and events such as: RTI (Response to Intervention) small-groups, Book Fair, and STEAM Night events just to name a few.

We are always looking for good volunteers to help in the TPES Library Media Center with the day-to-day operation as well as special events.
