Hello! I am currently teaching my 29th year as an educator in grades K-5. I am presently a 3rd grade ELA and Social Studies teacher at Tellico Plains Elementary School. This is a position that allows me to share my passion for teaching young minds and helping them to reach their full potential. My first year of teaching was in Sevier County where I taught first grade. Then, I returned home to Monroe County where I taught 19 years at Rural Vale School and 7 years at Tellico Elementary School. I have earned the honor of Teacher of the Year from the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce as well as Teacher of the Year from Monroe County Beautiful. I have had the privilege of mentoring beginning teachers, leading various professional development for colleagues, serving on data and leadership teams, developing curriculum and pacing guides, and implementing school improvement plans. As a result of my passion for reading and writing, I developed the Young Authors Conference for Monroe County Schools that helped students write their own book and meet authors. One of my greatest educational learning experiences was serving on an External Review Board that evaluated private and public schools for accreditation. I strive every day to continue learning and serving my school and community. My greatest academic accomplishment was achieving my doctorate degree. My favorite quote is: “Sometimes it is the people who no one imagines anything of, who do the things that no one can imagine.” I am the proud mother of three daughters. I love to hike, workout, dabble in photography, and spend time with my family.
